River Valley at the Madison Winter Rated Beginner Open (RBO)

Three RV Community Chess Club members competed in the Madison Winter Rated Beginner Open(RBO) chess tournament and represented River Valley.

Round #1:
Taylor Scott narrowly was defeated as black through a refuted Sicilian. Mike
Wittje lost narrowly on time in a disadvantageous position as white. Jonah
Broh was interestingly and wrongly paired into the Reserve 12 and under
section, and was playing a 7 year old girl, until she was whisked away to
another game. Jonah enjoyed a full point bye.

ROUND #2:

Jonah had a close but exhilarating loss on a time forfeit in a winning
position! Mike also lose in a very contested game on a time forfeit. Taylor
was "graced" with a full point bye.

ROUND #4:

Mike pulled of another win this round, while Jonah and Taylor couldn't
quite beat their dry streak through closely contested games.

Final - Round #5:

Good news prevails at the end of the 2011 Madison Winter RBO!

Jonah ended the day with a draw after an interestingly confusing game.
Taylor ended up with a last round win.
Mike ended with an exciting win!

Mike won 2nd Place Unrated in the open section!
